In the Museum of Your Last Day
In the Museum of Your Last Day by Patrick Phillips there is a coat on a coat hook in a hall. Work-gloves in the pockets, pliers and bent nails. There is a case of Quaker State for the Ford. Two cans of spray paint in a crisp brown bag. A mug on a book by the hi-fi. A disk that starts on its own: Boccherini. There is a dent in the soap the shape of your thumb. A swirl in the glass when it fogs. ...

Enough Episode 29 — Shawn Blanc's Minimalism →
minimalmac:
In today’s episode of the podcast, we are joined yet again by Shawn Blanc, online writer, internet superstar, and all around super keen guy. This time, we talk about the “Shawn Today” that I received long before he did them daily for the members of his site. The subject was, essentially, how does one gain a minimalist approach to technology when they don’t know the available options....
my favorite itunes review of 'raising up the dead'...
derekwebb:
Why is this listed under “Christian & Gospel”? The album may have “spiritual overtones”, but they’re NOT Christian. I’ve listened to the album three times and found that Jesus is not mentioned. Not even once. I won’t be listening any more. What a waste. I find it incredibly sad.

Back Story: Books vs. E-Books - Newsweek
via newsweek.com I agree with John Saddington…”Does one really have to win?” Most of my reading of late has been on the Kindle App for iPad. However, I still find the experience of reading a paper book more enjoyable and satisfying. Maybe one day it will come down to ebooks for information and “real” books for enjoyment. We’ll see.

The Wrong Way to Read the Bible →
“Two opposite errors exist in approaching the Bible. One is not to read it. The other is to know it so well that you miss Jesus. Jesus pointed out this error: “You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life” (John 5:39-40).”

“In the spirit of great Christians like William Wilberforce, they seek to mend earth’s brokenness by focusing on issues ranging from war to genocide, earth care to adoption, scientific discovery to education reform. They don’t believe that good works bring personal salvation, rather they believe that these works are the outflow of salvation. Through sowing seeds of restoration,...

On the myth of the special "call to missions"
“I was never called to be a missionary, nor was I drafted. I volunteered. No special call was needed. I chose to go; I wanted to go; I was compelled to go. And where I go is determined by an open bible and a stretched-out map of the regions where Christ is still unknown and un-praised!”
